About Our Culture

Garhwali people are an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group who primarily live in the Garhwal Himalayas of the northern Indianstate of Uttarakhand. Any person who has ancestral Garhwali roots or lives in Garhwal and has a Garhwali heritage is called a Garhwali. They include all those who speak the Garhwali language or any of its numerous dialects, living in Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal,Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand, India.

Step to Preserve our Culture

As the days are passing, most of people from Garhwal region are shifting towards states, due to which there are very few people who know how to speak garhwali, about garhwali Musical instrument, Dance, cuisine etc.. Most villages in Garhwal have very few number of people living there.

So, I (Ramesh Prasad Badoni) with my students on mission to find or identify our cultural resources and to know about them because of these instruments are on dying phase and we want to regenerate them and making our young generation involvement in it. With the help of this young brigade, we will surely save it and expand it also.
